The Amihan National Federation of Peasant Women lambasted Rodrigo Duterte’s long list of political maneuvers mocking the national elections which ended with him joining the Senatorial race via substitution. His COC was filed by his representative Atty. Melchor Jaemond Aranas this afternoon. The peasant women group said that it is now in the hands of the Filipino people and the united opposition to put an end to Duterte’s endless greed for power and control of government resources and ensure that he will be held accountable for his crimes against humanity in the International Criminal Court.
“Ano pa ba ang aasahan natin sa ganid at desperadong pangulo? Lahat ng iskema ay gagawin manatili lang sa pwesto sukdulang magmukhang gago at hidhid. Anumang posisyon ang kanyang takbuhan, patuloy ang panawagan nating #DuterteWakasan. Ang pagtakbo ni Duterte bilang Senador ay pagpapakita na gagawin nito ang anumang paraan para takasan ang kanyang mga kasalanan sa mamamayan dulot ng malaganap na pamamaslang at kriminal na kapabayaan nitong pandemya,” Amihan national chairperson Zenaida Soriano said.
“For almost six years under Duterte’s presidency, peasant families experienced worsened poverty and hunger due to massive land grabbing and displacement of farming communities, depressed farm gate prices of agricultural products due to liberalized policies on agriculture and intensifying human rights abuses due to his counter-insurgency policies which primarily target farmers and members of people’s organizations asserting their rights to land and livelihood,” Soriano added.
Amihan also warned against the use of public funds for the benefit of Duterte and his allies and the probable cases of vote-buying and urged the people to remain vigilant and oppose such political schemes.
“Kung ano-ano ang nilulutong tambalan ng mga Duterte at Marcos para sa Eleksyong 2022. Anuman ang kalabasan ay tiyak na magiging kasuka-suka sa mamamayan dahil gawa ito sa mga sangkap na panlilinlang, pandarambong at pandarahas. Ipagpapatuloy lamang nila ang mga anti-mamamayang polisiya na ipinatutupad sa kasalukuyan na hindi na kayang sikmurain ng malawak na hanay ng mamamayan,” Soriano ended. ###
