“The COMELEC’s move to exclude Celine Pialago’s party-list from ballot is commendable. We hope that this was due to that the commission identified Malasakit Movement party-list as not representing any marginalized sectors, “Zenaida Soriano, Amihan National Chairperson exclaimed.
She added that Pialago and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) only intention to run for congress is to persistently harass and red-tag progressive groups. The group said that the commission should also exclude other fake party-lists who are taking advantage of the Republic Act 7941 Party-list Act for counter-insurgency program victimizing marginalized sectors.
“In the coming days, we should be very vigilant and hope for the COMELEC to exclude more fake party-lists. We want a party-list who will represent the aspirations of the marginalized sectors for land, livelihood, ayuda, housing, and others,” Soriano ended. ###
